The newly established junior research group of Dr. Christian Schmidl at the RCI -
Regensburg Center for Interventional Immunology is seeking a talented
PHD STUDENT (M/F)
Limited for 3 years with possibility for prolongation
The project
The complex interplay between immune cells and the tumor shapes patients’ responses to modern immunotherapy. However, the underlying mechanisms that dictate such responses are not well understood. You will build on available expertise to further develop and apply state-of-the-art (epi-)genomic methods such as single-cell RNA-seq, chromatin immunoprecipitation, chromatin accessibility mapping and CRISPR genome editing to decipher molecular mechanisms of immune cell function in the tumor environment. The work comprises experiments on primary human samples as well as on adequate tumor mouse models with the aim to make a translational impact on biomedical research.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated colleague that is a creative thinker and able to work independently in a competitive research field. You hold a Master/Diplom or equivalent in biochemistry, biology, biomedicine or a closely related subject.
You have a keen interest in the immune system and molecular
mechanisms, and you want to work with state of the art technologies.
Further, you possess excellent oral and written communication skills, team spirit, and potential interest in analyzing sequencing data.
We offer
The lab offers the opportunity to work at the interface of immunology and cancer, which is one of the most exciting fields of recent biomedical research. We provide a dynamic and motivating working environment with flat hierarchies where you can foster your skills and get the opportunity to learn cutting-edge sequencing technologies. The small lab size offers excellent mentoring and the opportunity to contribute and develop own ideas. The position is available for 3 years, with the possibility for prolongation. The post is remunerated on the TV-L salary scale (TV-L13, 50%).
